After becoming the first US president in history to be arrested and charged, Donald Trump appeared in court via video for a second hearing.
The former president was on screen in Manhattan Criminal Court so that Judge Juan Mercant could make sure he understood the terms of the protective order in the case.
The judge imposed the order after Trump, who targeted Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and Judge Merchan on social media, was charged with 34 counts of falsifying business records to cover up alleged affairs with women.
The trial date is set for March 25, 2024 — in the middle of the Republican primaries.
Mr Trump’s other legal troubles are also heating up. On Monday, author E Jean Carroll amended the remaining defamation suit against Mr Trump to include a defamatory comment about him during a CNN town hall after a jury trial in New York found Ms Carroll liable for sexual abuse and defamation.

Donald Trump went on a tirade following a hearing in New York County Supreme Court in which the former president said his First Amendment rights were “violated.”
