Reliance Jio is going to give another big push in the near future. According to a Geo official, the company plans to launch 5G smartphones below Rs 5G and further sales will be reduced to Rs 2,500-3,000.
Under the initiative, the company will try to sink 200-30 million mobile users using 2G connections at present. “Geo wants to keep the price of equipment below Rs 5,000,” an official said on condition of anonymity. When we increase sales, it can cost Rs 2,500-3,000. ‘
Reliance Jio did not respond to a request for comment. Prices for 5G smartphones currently available in India start at Rs 27,000. Geo is the first company to offer free 4G mobile phones to users in India. Under this, there was a payment of Rs 1,500 for a Geo phone, which can be refunded later.
Speaking at the company’s 43rd Annual General Meeting, Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director, Reliance Industries, emphasized the need for affordable 5G smartphones to make India 2G free. The company is also working on its 5G network equipment and has asked the DOT to allocate spectrum for testing of these products. The government has not yet decided on Reliance Jio’s request.
There is currently no 5G service in India and the government has not allocated a spectrum of telecom operators to test 5G technology.
