A woman has committed suicide after killing two mentally ill children in the town of Ate in Uttar Pradesh’s Jalun district. Police say the cause of the incident was financial crisis and the children fell ill.
The body of a woman named Shabana, 39, was found hanging from her neck in a locked house in Gari area of the city around Friday evening, Jalun District Superintendent of Police Yashbir Singh said. The body of his daughter Rashni (20) was found on the floor and Ashik’s son (15) was lying on the bed.
He said that Roshni and Aashiq were in a state of mental and physical illness. Conch Deputy Superintendent of Police (CO) Rahul Pandey said the woman’s husband, Mostaq, was a truck driver by profession and was out of work at the time of the incident. In the evening, Mostak bought some fruits from the market and sent the house to Sharif, a resident of his area. The incident was reported to the police.
CO Pandey said that at first glance it seems that the woman committed suicide by hanging herself in a closed room after killing the girl and the boy. The three bodies have been sent to a government hospital for postmortem and forensic team has collected evidence from the scene. Citing the woman’s husband, Mostaq, police said the woman must have taken such a big step because of the frustrated children’s financial crisis and mental illness. The matter is under investigation.
