Preparations have begun for the panchayat elections in Uttar Pradesh. The State Election Commission on Tuesday released a detailed program in this regard. According to the program published by State Election Commissioner Manoj Kumar, booth label officers (BLOs) will go door-to-door from next October to verify the voter list. The voter list will be published on December 29. Under such circumstances, it has now been confirmed that there will be no panchayat elections this year.
The voter list revision campaign will last for about three and a half months. Under the last campaign, new voters will be enrolled in the voter list of the 185-year-old rural youth voters from the last panchayat election to January 1, 2015. At the same time, the names of dead, displaced or duplicate voters will also be removed during this period. Additional Election Commissioner Ved Prakash Verma said that from September 15 to 30, which part of the gram panchayat has joined other gram panchayats or municipal bodies will be scrutinized. In such a case, that gram panchayat or part of the gram panchayat will be removed from the list of gram panchayats in the state. In addition, BLOs and supervisors will be given the opportunity to revise their voter lists. These two works will run separately in parallel.
