Prime Minister Narendra Modi today gifted two mega projects worth Rs 2,588 crore to Bhagalpur. Through video conferencing from Delhi, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone of the Bikshashila Parallel Bridge and the bridge over the Kosi River between Virpur and Bihpur at Phulaut.
Both of these projects have been around for years. With their formation, the road from East Bihar to the border and Kosi will be easier. Ramsuresh Roy, executive engineer of Bihar State Bridge Construction Corporation, said a four-lane bridge parallel to the Vikramshila bridge between Bhagalpur and Nabagachhia would be constructed at a cost of Tk 1,110 crore in four years. The 29 meter wide bridge will be 4.455 km long. The bridge, parallel to the Vikramshila on the Ganges, will be connected to Jeromile and the other end to Jahnavi Chowk in Nabagachhia.
A four-lane bridge will be built over the Kosi River
A four-lane bridge over the Kosi River will be constructed at Bihpur-Birpur NH-106 Fulta. The length of the bridge along the access road will be 28.94 km. It has been spent Rs 1478.40 crore. The event was held for laying the foundation stone of Women’s ITI at Giromil in Bhagalpur and Hari Yo School in Bihar. Apart from the DM in Bhagalpur, officials of the Bridge Construction Corporation, administrative and police officials were also present.
