The first case of violation of the Model Code of Conduct in the Bihar Assembly elections on Saturday was registered with the Patna Airport Police Station. An FIR has been lodged against the nominees and 100 unidentified workers, including Congress state president Madan Mohan Jha. They are accused of gathering 100 people in the outer precincts of the airport without permission, holding processions, chanting slogans, violating instructions issued under Section 144 and Covid-19.
Apart from Madan Mohan Jha, Congress screening committee chairman Abinash Pandey, Bihar in-charge Ajay Kapoor, secretary Devendra Yadav, Md. Nizamuddin, Akhilesh Singh and Deepak Negi have been nominated. Special Executive Magistrate Patna Mohammad Safiullah Khan has lodged an FIR with the Airport Police Station. The accused have been charged under IPC 188, 269, 270 and Epidemic Act 2897 Disaster Management Act 2005.
Welcome with a garland of flowers
Airport station in-charge Arun Kumar said that the state president of the Congress landed at the airport with some leaders around 11 am on Saturday. A huge crowd of staff had gathered there before arriving at the outer courtyard of the airport. They greeted the leaders with flower garlands. They all proceeded in procession.
The DM reviewed airport security
DM Ravi Kumar arrived at the airport late on Saturday night with Dalbal after revealing the violation of the Model Code of Conduct on Congress leaders. He then took over the security of the airport. He also held meetings with airport officials. The DM said that the guidelines of the Model of Conduct must be complied with. Not to violate the Code of Conduct, Section 144.
