The second leg of the 14th season of the Indian Premier League is scheduled to begin in the UAE from September 19.
During the 14th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021), Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav, who was struggling with poor form, returned to action during India’s tour of Sri Lanka. The left-arm spinner will now return to the Kolkata Knight Riders jersey with the second leg of IPL 2021 starting in the UAE.Also Read – Shakib Al Hasan’s All Time IPL-XI: Dhoni as captain, de Villiers-Gayle out, this is Shakib’s IPL-11
In a video interview on former India cricketer Aakash Chopra’s YouTube channel, Yadav lamented the lack of communication within the Kolkata franchise and said that sometimes a player does not know why he is not being picked. Kuldeep said, “If the coaches have worked with you before and are with you for a long time, they understand you better. But it becomes very difficult when communication is weak. Sometimes you don’t even know if you will be playing or not. No, or what the team expects from you.” Also Read – IPL 2021: Could have played two tournaments out of three, so chose World Cup and Ashes instead of IPL: Chris Woakes
He said, “Sometimes you think you deserve to play, can win matches for the team, but you don’t know why you are not playing. The manager comes with his plans for 2 months, which makes it difficult.”
Chinaman Yadav also said that he was shocked when he did not get any explanation for the sit out and also expressed his disappointment that the team did not show enough confidence in his skills. Yadav said, “In the Indian team, they talk to you when you are not selected, but in the IPL it does not happen.”
He further added, “I remember I spoke to the franchise before the IPL but in the matches in between, no one gave me an explanation. I was a little surprised. I felt like they didn’t trust me, didn’t trust my skills. This happens when the team has multiple options. KKR now have a lot of spin bowling options.
The Kolkata team had appointed Eoin Morgan as the captain in place of Dinesh Karthik in the middle of the tournament. To this, Yadav said that having an Indian captain in a franchise makes a big difference, especially for Indian players.
He said, “Definitely, definitely makes a big difference. I don’t know how Eoin Morgan sees me. In such cases, the communication gap widens. When the captain is an Indian, you can literally go up to him and ask why are you not playing.”
Kuldeep further said, “Suppose, Rohit Sharma is the captain, you can freely ask about the ways to improve, what is my role in the team but most importantly the captain also in what he expects from me. Must be interested.”
