Shikhar Dhawan will captain Team India in the limited overs series against Sri Lanka in July.

After being given the responsibility of leading the Indian team for the Sri Lanka tour, opener Shikhar Dhawan on Friday said it was an honor for him to be given this opportunity. The Indian team will play three ODIs and as many T20 matches on the Sri Lanka tour from July 13, which will be played in Colombo. The selectors on Thursday picked several fresh faces for the Sri Lanka series as the main team will be in Britain for the World Test Championship final and the five Test matches against England. The thirty-five-year-old has played 34 Tests, 145 ODIs and 65 T20 matches. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was appointed as the vice-captain. Five players were included in the Indian team for the first time for the series, including K Gautam, Devdutt Padikkal, Nitish Rana, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Chetan Sakaria.
