Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 10 runs in the third match of the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). At one point it seemed that SRH could easily win the match, but then Yuzbendra Chahal completely reversed the position of the match with his bowling. Johnny Bairstow scored 611 off 43 balls while Manish Pandey scored 34 off 33 balls. Chahal dismissed these two batsmen, as well as showing Vijay Shankar the way to the pavilion.
Chahal, who was selected as the best player of the match, said, “When I bowled my first over, it was understood that I had to bowl at the stumps line and I backed up. At one point he was batting very well and I was trying to loop and wide the ball, I was able to put pressure. When I was bowling Pandey (Manish), I was trying to throw the ball off the stumps, but decided to bowl the stumps as it was difficult to hit the leg side. And Bearstow (Johnny) is a bit full and bowling outside the leg side makes it difficult for him to play leg side shots. ‘
IPL 2020: RCB debut, Anushka Sharma’s reaction
‘Virat and ABD asked Vijay Shankar to googly’
Chahal further said, ‘When Vijay (Shankar) came, Virat and AB asked me to googly and it worked. I applied some soil on my hands so as not to damage the dew. ABD, who scored 51 for RCB, said after the match, “I am very happy, we worked hard for this win. We were so good after the match that we stood by the result, despite having some doubts about yourself after the age of 36, we all worked hard on training and I am glad that we are working the way we did in the basics. I cared for Josh Philip as much as Mark Boucher cared for me. Angel Paddikkal is a little shy and calm player, so I can’t say much about him, but I think he is a good talented player. ‘
Padikkal did something that even BCT could not do for RCB
After winning the toss, SRH and skipper David Warner decided to bowl first. RCB scored 133 for five in 20 overs thanks to Devdutt Padikkal and AB de Villiers’ half-centuries, while SRH were bowled out for 153 in 19.4 overs. Padikkal scored 56 runs. Yuzbendra Chahal took three wickets and Shivam Dubey and Navdeep Saini took two wickets each. With this win RCB reached the top of the points table with a net run rate of +0.500 and two points.
