Engineer believes that this Indian squad is very strong but Dhawan’s absence is hurting. In a conversation with Sports Tak, he said, “I have not seen it properly. I’ve only heard about it once. But it looks like it has all the top players in it.” Also Read – Pant, Pandya and Jadeja can replace Rahane at number-5 in the playing XI: Ian Chappell
He said, “I am really happy to see Suryakumar Yadav in the team. Chahar is a very good bowler, and there is definitely Bumrah in there. I think with Ravindra Jadeja and Rohit Sharma, the balance of the team is good. I think we have a good team.”
About Dhawan, he said, “Shikhar Dhawan… well, I am surprised he has been dropped because he has come back and done a great job. But it is such a big problem for the Indian selectors that players like Dhawan are being dropped, which is a big disappointment, as he would walk into any international team as a batsman. He has proved himself time and again and I don’t think a player of his caliber should be on trial.”
The former cricketer continued, “But who will you drop? KL Rahul has done a great job. I think he is fantastic, one of the best batsmen in the world. Rohit Sharma is on top of his form. Still, I think it’s a very good team. Chosen and I think we have every chance to win the T20 World Cup.”
