‘Different format-different captain policy will benefit India; Rohit Sharma can captain better

Recently there was a report that there could be a big change in the leadership of India’s limited overs team after the T20 World Cup.

Former India player Madan Lal says that captaining in different formats is a good technique and it will reduce the pressure of Indian captain Virat Kohli. Madan Lal told IANS, “I think it would be a good option. We are in a better position right now. We are fortunate that we have Rohit Sharma and whenever Virat Kohli feels that he wants to focus in one or two formats, then Rohit can come and he has a lot of experience. He said, “I think India will benefit from this. I have read that Kohli will probably quit the ODI and T20 captaincy as he wants to focus on his batting which is a good plan. The former cricketer said, “It depends on what Kohli is thinking at the moment. India is doing well as a team and we have seen that in England recently. Will have to see what happens.”

There were reports that there could be a major change in the leadership of India’s limited overs team after the T20 World Cup and Kohli will take a big decision soon. If Kohli decides to step down from the captaincy, then Rohit can become the captain of the ODI and T20 team.

The report said that Kohli is contemplating taking this decision to focus on his batting. However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) treasurer Arun Dhumal on Monday rubbished these reports.
