BCCI Secretary confirms Team India will play 2 extra T20 matches in England next year

If the ECB chooses to play a Test, it will be the fifth match of a series as has already been said by Board President Sourav Ganguly.

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Jay Shah has confirmed that the board has decided to start the Indian team in July 2022, amid discussions after the cancellation of the fifth and final Test match between India and England. The Cricket Board (ECB) has canceled the Manchester Test due to the outbreak of Kovid-19 in the Indian camp. The BCCI secretary said the offer of two additional T20 Internationals will remain in place if the ECB agrees to amicably resolve the dispute over the fifth Test. Shah told Cricbuzz on Monday, “It is true that we have offered to play two additional T20Is when we tour England next July (only for white-ball games). Instead of three T20Is, we will play five T20Is. Alternatively, we are also ready to play a Test match. It is up to them to choose one of these proposals. The Daily Mail in the UK reported on Monday that the offer for rescheduled tests is still in place. It is learned that the BCCI has left it to the ECB to choose one Test match or two T20 matches which can be played during the tour of England next year.

If the ECB chooses to play a Test, it will be the fifth match of a series as board president Sourav Ganguly has already said.
