A source said, “The company has proposed a price of Rs 1,900 including taxes for its three doses.” He said, “Talks are on. The company has been asked to reconsider all aspects regarding the cost of the vaccine. The final decision on the price of the vaccine is likely to be taken this week. Another source said that the price of Zycov-D should be different than Covaccine and Covishield, as apart from being a three-dose vaccine, it uses a needleless jet injector which costs Rs 30,000.
A single jet injector can be used to deliver approximately 20,000 doses. The second and third doses of this vaccine are to be given 28 and 56 days after the first dose. According to sources, about three rounds of meetings have been held between the Center and the company so far and the last one was held on Thursday.
