“President Xi and I have agreed to continue working closely on bilateral, regional and global issues at various levels,” Yusihida Suga told NHK Broadcaster on Friday after a phone conversation with NHK C
According to him, Japanese Prime Minister Xi Jinping expressed interest in developing relations with Japan. Suga stressed the importance of stable relations between Japan and China for East Asia and the whole world.
The two leaders also pledged to work together to tackle the coronavirus epidemic. At the time, the Japanese Prime Minister expressed concern over the current situation in the East China Sea and Hong Kong.
Significantly, Japanese lawmakers elected Yoshihida Suga as the new prime minister last week following the resignation of former prime minister Shinzo Abe. Abe abruptly resigned on August 28 due to health reasons.
