West Bengal: CM Mamata Banerjee launches ‘Duare Ration Scheme’, 10 crore people will benefit

Kolkata: Inaugurating the ‘Duare Ration Scheme’ on Tuesday, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that this would benefit about 10 crore people of the state. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that her government has decided to increase the commission for ration dealers from Rs 75 to Rs 150 per quintal. While launching the scheme at Netaji Indoor Stadium in Kolkata, the Chief Minister said, this ‘Duare Ration Scheme’ will help 10 crore people of the state. I would request all the ration dealers to make it a success…Many states are trying to emulate the schemes of West Bengal. Banerjee had announced this scheme before the assembly elections held in March-April this year, under which dealers would deliver ration to the homes of the beneficiaries. He said that the government will provide financial assistance of one lakh rupees each to about 21,000 ration dealers to buy vehicles for the arrangement of providing ration to the people. The Chief Minister requested the ration dealer not to approach the court objecting to the scheme. A group of ration vendors had moved the Calcutta High Court against the scheme but their plea was rejected. At the event, Banerjee also launched a ‘WhatsApp Chatbot’ and a mobile application, ‘Khaya Saathi: Amar Ration Mobile App’ for the Food and Supplies Department of the state government. Through this app, people will be able to get information about how to apply for ration card and how to do it. (input language)
