UP News: Former district panchayat member killed in Ballia, miscreants fired bullets at SUV

SP Ballia Vipin Tada said, “Seeing the attackers targeting Balbir, Amritesh got down from the SUV to save himself and suffered a minor injury to his leg.”

UP News: Balbir Singh, a former district panchayat member, was shot dead at Bairia in Uttar Pradesh’s Ballia district, while his companion and husband of a current district panchayat member, Amritesh Singh, narrowly escaped the incident. As they were passing through National Highway-31 between Brahmod and Chidiyamod, two miscreants on a motorcycle intercepted their SUV and opened indiscriminate fire targeting Balbir, who was sitting in the driver’s seat. Hearing the sound of gunshots, some local people reached the spot but the miscreants managed to escape. The locals took Balbir and Amritesh to a hospital in Sonbarsa area where doctors declared Balbir brought dead. The SP said, ‘Balbir’s family has not lodged any complaint in this regard so far.’ However, in the initial investigation, it has been found that the deceased was a history-sheeter and had also gone to jail in a murder case. The SP said that at present, he was involved in property deals. The police is probing all aspects including Balbir’s old enmity and business rivalry to solve the case. (IANS Hindi)
