Let us inform that on Monday night, 36-year-old real estate businessman Manish Gupta, resident of Kanpur, was staying with his two friends Pradeep and Hari Chauhan in a hotel in Ramgarhtal police station area. Late night the police had reached the hotel for inspection. During the inspection, it was found that three people are staying in a room on the basis of the identity card of Chandan Saini, a resident of Mahadeva Bazar in Sikriganj, Gorakhpur. Manish, who was injured after allegedly being beaten up by the police during interrogation on suspicion, died in the Gorakhpur Medical College under suspicious circumstances. Manish’s wife Meenakshi accused the police of assault and said that due to this her husband died. He had suffered a head injury, which resulted in his death. Meenakshi had tweeted and demanded Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to register a case against the accused policemen. His friends who stayed in the room with Manish told that they had come on the invitation of Chandan Saini, a businessman from Gorakhpur.
The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) has handed over the investigation of the case to the Superintendent of Police (City) after suspending six policemen including Ramgarhtal station in-charge JN Singh and Phalmandi police station in-charge Akshay Mishra on Tuesday itself. A case of murder has also been registered against the six policemen accused in this case.
