The coronavirus vaccine is eagerly awaited. However, there is growing confusion among the people due to the various statements and claims being made. Meanwhile, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said on Tuesday that trials of three vaccines against corona were being conducted in India and a third phase trial would begin after approval of one of them.
During a briefing by the Ministry of Health, ICMR Director General Balaram Vargava said that Cadillac Health Care and India Biotech have completed the first phase of the trial of Covid-19 and after the approval of the Serum Institute of India (SII). The third phase of trial will begin. Bharagba further said that the drug would be tested with 1500 volunteers during Phase-3 at 14 places by the Pune-based drug manufacturer Serum Institute.
The statement from ICMR came a day after the Serum Institute said the vaccine would not be available to everyone before 2024. “It will take four to five years for everyone in the world to get this vaccine,” Adar Punawala, CEO of the Serum Institute of India, told the Financial Times.

Talking about the partnership between Serum Institute of India and ICMR in the development of corona vaccine, Choubey said that the first vaccine, ChAdOx1-S, is a non-replicated viral vector vaccine developed by Oxford University and AstraZeneca. 2/3 step testing from ICMR is underway at 14 clinical trial sites.
