Tragic accident in Ghaziabad, 16 killed in janaza, CM seeks report

A tragic accident has taken place in Ghaziabad district of Uttar Pradesh. As many as 17 people were killed when the roof fell on those who took part in the janaza, while the condition of many others was reported to be critical. The victims are being treated at Ghaziabad District Hospital.

State Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed to provide financial assistance of Rs two lakh to the victims and expressed deep grief over the incident. At the same time, the Chief Minister directed the officials to provide all possible assistance to the people. The CM also sought a report on the incident from the Yogi authorities.

Upon receiving the news of the accident, Ghaziabad District Officer Ajay Shankar Pandey, SP Kalanidhi Naithani and Commissioner Anita C Meshram rushed to the spot.

According to the information received, Dayaram, a resident of Dayananda Colony, died on Saturday night due to illness. On Sunday, the family arrived at Muradnagar with a crematorium for his janaza. A total of 100 people including relatives and locals reached the ghat for the janaza. People had been standing inside the building built at the crematorium since morning due to rain. Then suddenly the ground collapsed and the wall collapsed and the roof collapsed.

More than 40 people were buried in the accident. In the midst of the screams, some people escaped with great difficulty and saved their lives. Police and the administration were immediately notified of the incident. Upon reaching the spot, the rescue team started evacuating the people and he was admitted to Ghaziabad District Hospital for treatment. Initially, the rescue operation was hampered by heavy rains. Please tell that it has been raining occasionally in Ghaziabad since morning.
