A shameful incident was revealed at a hospital in Daudpur in Kant area of Gorakhpur on Sunday. After the death of the elderly woman admitted for treatment, the hospital staff took the gold earrings from her ear. When the woman’s body reached home, the family members involved in the latest operation came to know about the incident. After reaching the hospital, the relatives started shouting. Kent police have arrested four hospital employees on suspicion and are questioning them. The hospital’s CCTV cameras are also being used to investigate the case.
Haridwar Singh, a resident of Madhar in Belghat, is a farmer. His mother, 65-year-old Sharda Devi, fell ill with chest pain on Saturday evening. Haridwar along with his family members took him to Daudpur Hospital. Doctors admitted him to the ICU, noting that his condition was worse. Sharda Devi died at 7 am on Sunday. Employees handed over the body to family members. When family members took the body of Sharada Devi to the crematorium home and removed the sheet while preparing for the cremation, her ears were torn and traces of blood were seen. Gold bars were also missing from his ears. Haridwar reported the matter to his relatives in Gorakhpur.
Relatives have reached the hospital with informati on. Kent police arrived on the scene, saw CC footage, investigated the area around the body, called four ward employees and questioned them. When his role in the investigation was found to be suspicious, the police took him into custody. Cantt inspector Manoj Roy said four people, including two women, were being questioned for custody. The possession of CCTV DVR of the hospital is being investigated. Further action will be taken on the basis of Tahrir of the families.
No such incident took place at the hospital
The hospital operator said all the allegations were baseless. The elderly woman had heart disease. Late at night he was brought to critical condition. There was improvement after treatment. He died of a heart attack at 7 in the morning. The body was then wrapped in cloth and handed over to relatives. In the afternoon the noise started with the family. The police were then informed. All CCTV footage of the ward and the courtyard was shown to police and family members. Police have been tasked with questioning CCTV footage as well as employees.
