Delhi government extends water bill waiver scheme till March 31, find out how much discount you can get

The Delhi government has extended the deadline for one-time water bill receivables and late payment surcharges in the water bill waiver scheme till March 31.

The scheme was launched in August last year and all the houses under this department have been exempted from paying late fees. The outstanding water bill has been partially or completely waived depending on the housing department.

Satyendra Jain, chairman of the Delhi Water Board (DJB), said, “We have extended the deadline for the DJB project so that more and more customers can pay their water bills at a reduced rate without any financial burden or inconvenience.”

He added that so far more than four and a half lakh customers have taken up the project and DJB has earned Rs 6332 crore. Under this scheme, customer bills were pending till March 31 last year.

The colonies of Delhi are divided into sections from A to H. The colonies from A to D are considered as middle and upper-middle inhabitants. The ‘A’ category colonies include areas like Maharani Bagh, Chanakyapuri and Golf Link.

For ‘A’ and ‘B’ category colonies, 25 per cent discount is given in their main bucket, and in ‘C’ category colonies, 50 per cent discount is given. In the ‘D’ category colonies, people get a discount of 5% on their original pending.
