A day after the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) withdrew from the NDA, the Congress on Sunday challenged BJP’s allies JD (U), LJP and JJP to oppose the Center and not support the agriculture bill. As well, the group complained that the new agricultural bill is like cancer and slow poison that will drive farmers and agriculture away.
In a joint digital press conference, Haryana Congress chief Kumari Selja and Punjab Congress president Sunil Jakhar urged all parties to come together and oppose the agriculture bill. He demanded the withdrawal of these bills from the Center, saying that they would make the farmers ‘slaves of the big businessmen’. Both Congress leaders urged the President not to give his consent to the bill as the peasants were on the streets against him.
Shailja and Jakhar said that just as the NDA allies should support the opposition parties as they had supported the land acquisition bill, the BJP-led central government was forced to withdraw them. When the Akali Dal withdrew from the NDA, Zakhar said the party itself did not secede from the ruling coalition, but the peasants forced it to do so. The peasants made it difficult for the Akalis to enter the Punjab.
He claimed, “The Akali minister did not resign, but the BJP took him and the Akali Dal did not leave the NDA itself, but he was thrown out.” Shailja held the JJP in power with the BJP in Haryana. The challenge of leaving and standing with farmers in the state.
Investigating the JJP, he said, “JJP leaders called the BJP before the elections and joined hands with it after the broken order in Haryana.” Dushyanta Chautala should stand with the farmers with open eyes. Jakhar said that seeing his family supporting the anti-peasant BJP, Devi Lal’s soul would be saddened in heaven.
