Lucknow. A special court of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will deliver its verdict in the long-awaited case on September 30, almost 277 years after the Babri massacre. Special CBI judge SK Yadav has ordered that all the accused be produced in court on September 30.
Former Prime Minister Krishna Advani, former Governor Kalyan Singh, BJP leader Binoy Katiyar, former Union Ministers Uma Bharati, Sadhvi It Tambhar, Ram Bilas Bedanti, Sakshi Maharaj, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader and General Secretary of Ram Mandir Trust Champat. Apart from Rai, Mahanta Nritya Gopal Das, many fraudsters of BJP and Vishwa Hindu Parishad are accused. The CBI had filed chargesheets against 49 accused in the case, of whom one died.
351 witnesses and about 60,000 documentary evidence have been produced in the special CBI court. CBI lawyer Lalit Singh said the court had reserved judgment on September 2 after hearing defense and litigation arguments. On May 8, the then Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Ranjan Gogoi, directed the CBI court in Lucknow to dispose of the case by August 31. The case has been heard daily since then.
On the report and request of Special Judge Surendra Kumar Yadav, the apex court on August 19 gave the verdict one more month to decide the verdict. The hearing ended on September 1 after the statements of 32 accused in the case were recorded and the verdict of the case started on September 2.
