Chandigarh : Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu said that he will meet Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Thursday for talks. Sidhu, who resigned from the post of state Congress president on Tuesday, said, “The Chief Minister has called me for talks….I will reach Punjab Bhawan in Chandigarh today at 3 pm, he is welcome for any discussion. ” Sidhu had on Wednesday questioned the appointment of Director General of Police, State Advocate General and “tainted” leaders. He said, “A special team will be appointed. So there should be no doubt on me. Everything will be transparent.”
Channi said, “With the feedback we got from colleagues and others and who could be appointed, we hired them. But the decision will be taken according to the people of Punjab.”
Referring to the recent appointments, he said, “I have no objection or arrogance in anything. I am very clear. If something sends a wrong message to people, I will not stick to it.”
The chief minister made a clear reference to the justice he got in the 2015 sacrilege case of the Guru Granth Sahib that he would never back down on the issues for which he was fighting.
