Lucknow. Expressing concern over the rising crime against women and girls, Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben said it was not conducive to a civilized society. Governor Anandiben inaugurated the lecture on ‘Indian Thought in Indian Ideology’ under the auspices of the Center for the Vision Studies, Center for Studies, Raj Bhavan, Pune, via video conference on Saturday, saying there was a growing concern for women and girls. It is not suitable for any civilized society. He said cases like female feticide and dowry killing were a matter of concern for the society.
He said that many male students have made an unforgettable contribution to the development of Indian society. The Indian Constitution also empowers women with equality. We all need to take appropriate steps to respect and protect women. Empowerment of women is essential for the progress of the country. If women are strong, they can make every decision related to their life. He said women should be financially independent and contribute to the development of the country.
The governor said the new national education policy has given special place to women in primary education, anganwadi and higher education. The policy incorporates Indian ideology and takes into account the problems faced by girls in education. She said women and girls need to understand how brave they are and that they can be successful in every field.
Anandiben Patel said that today we need to pay special attention to women in rural and backward areas who have been deprived of the mainstream of development in any situation and they do not even know about their rights. She said that these national women need to be made aware of the projects run by the central and state governments for their welfare. He said September is being celebrated as ‘National Nutrition Month’ at the initiative of the Prime Minister.
