Shimla : The torrential rains in the recent past have thrown life out of gear in different parts of the country. Especially in the hill states of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, due to the landslides caused by the rains, many buildings have collapsed and many people have also died. A multi-storey building collapsed in a landslide triggered by rain in Himachal Pradesh’s capital Shimla, damaging two nearby structures. A senior disaster management official said on Friday that there was no casualty in the accident. According to Sudesh Kumar Mokhta, director, Himachal Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority, an eight-storey building at Ghoda Chowki near Hali Palace in Shimla collapsed on Thursday afternoon in a landslide caused by recent rains.
Parts of the eight-storey building fell on other two-storey buildings, causing damage to them, he said. Two nearby buildings, including a hotel, are still under threat. Mokhta said that the district administration has announced a grant of Rs 10,000 each as financial assistance to the residents of the building.
