Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced an increase in sugarcane price by Rs 25 per quintal. This decision has been taken just a day before the ‘Bharat Bandh’ of the United Kisan Morcha, which has been agitating for the last nine months against the three agricultural laws of the Central Government. Addressing the ‘Kisan Sammelan’ organized by the Kisan Morcha of Bharatiya Janata Party in the capital Lucknow, Adityanath said that the state government has decided that till now the price of sugarcane which used to get Rs 325 per quintal, will be increased by Rs 25. The Chief Minister further said that the government has decided that the price of normal sugarcane which was Rs 315 (per quintal) till now, will also increase by Rs 25 and will be paid by Rs 340 per quintal. The Chief Minister said that it is our endeavor to give state-of-the-art seeds to the farmers with new technology so that they too move towards producing sugarcane early. Describing the benefits of this new announcement to the farmers, Adityanath said, “This will increase the income of sugarcane farmers by an additional eight percent and change the lives of 45 lakh farmers.” This change is not normal. 119 sugar mills have to be run and it has to be mixed with ethanol.
