Senior Congress leader Channi will meet Prime Minister Modi for the first time after taking oath as the Chief Minister of Punjab. According to a senior official of the Punjab government, Chief Minister Channi will meet Prime Minister Modi. Sources said that during the meeting with Modi, Channi is likely to demand immediate start of government procurement of paddy in the state.
The Punjab Chief Minister on Thursday demanded the Center to withdraw the letter issued to postpone the procurement of paddy from October 1. The government procurement of paddy normally starts on October 1. He had sought personal intervention from the Prime Minister in this matter.
