The girl was allegedly gang-raped by six youths in Lalitadripura on the outskirts of the city. The police gave this information on Wednesday. The police officer said that the student was going towards Chamunda Hills on Tuesday with her boyfriend sitting behind on the bike. Police said the gang members initially demanded money from them, but when they did not get the money, attacked the victim’s friend and dragged the girl to the crime scene. Police said that the victim is admitted in the hospital. Based on her complaint, a case of gang rape has been registered against unknown people. Mysuru Police Commissioner Dr. Chandragupta visited the spot. He has constituted several teams to investigate the matter.

Reacting to the incident, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai told reporters in Delhi that he has directed Director General of Police Praveen Sood to take steps to nab the culprits. Bommai said, ‘Based on the statement, a case has been registered. I have directed the Director General of Police that whoever is guilty should be identified and strict action should be taken against them.

State Home Minister Arga Gyanendra termed the incident as unfortunate and said that he has directed the police to investigate the matter and take strict steps. On the basis of preliminary information, the minister said that four people are involved in the crime. He said he would go to Mysuru on Thursday.
