A terrorist was killed in an encounter with security forces in Natipora area of Jammu and Kashmir city. Kashmir Zone Police wrote on its official Twitter handle, “Terrorists attacked the police team. The police retaliated. In this encounter, one terrorist was eliminated while another fled.” Police said arms and ammunition were recovered from the spot. A female headmistress and a teacher were shot dead inside a government school in Srinagar on Thursday. Of the seven people killed in the last five days, four were from minority communities and six were in Srinagar. Officials said that in all such cases, terrorists use pistols, which they can easily carry. He said that most of these acts were committed by newly recruited terrorists or people willing to join terrorist organisations. According to official figures, so far this year, there have been 97 terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir, out of which 71 have been attacks on security forces and 26 on civilians. Last year there were a total of 105 attacks – 80 on security forces and 25 on civilians.
