Due to heavy rains in Jamnagar, Rajkot and Junagadh of Gujarat, there has been a flood-like situation, the worst of which is in Jamnagar. The connectivity of 35 villages of the district has been cut off and public life has come to a complete standstill. 6 teams of NDRF and 4 helicopters of Air Force are engaged in the rescue operation. Due to heavy rains, rivers in Jamnagar and adjoining areas of Rajkot are in spate and many rivers have crossed the danger mark. In view of such a situation, many villages have been alerted and people are being sent to safer places. Due to incessant rains, 18 dams built in Jamnagar district have overflowed. Many areas are completely submerged in water. In many areas, water has flooded up to the first floor of the houses. People are taking shelter on the roofs of their houses. NDRF team is evacuating people trapped in the house.

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has also issued an alert of heavy rain in Gujarat for the next 4-5 days. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph in many parts of Gujarat’s coastal areas especially Jamnagar, Jumagarh, Porbandar, Dwarka, Okha, Rajkot.
