Gujarat: Death of Kovid patients in a horrific fire in the hospital of Bharuch was 18, 50 patients were saved.

A police official said, “According to the information at 6:30 in the morning, the death toll in the accident is 18. Immediately after the fire, we were confirmed to have died of 12 patients. Bharuch Superintendent of Police (SP) Rajendra Singh Chitasama said that 12 patients died in Kovid-19 ward due to fire and smoke emanating from them. It is not clear whether the remaining six patients either died within the hospital or died while being taken to other hospitals.

About 50 patients were evacuated with the help of local people and firefighters.

Determined to treat Kovid-19, the hospital is located on the Bharuch-Jambusar highway, about 190 km from the state capital, Ahmedabad and is operated by a trust. The officer said the cause of the fire is being ascertained. A fire official said that the fire was controlled within an hour and about 50 patients were evacuated with the help of local people and fire personnel. They told that these patients have been admitted to nearby hospitals.
