Lucknow: The case of the death of eight farmers in the violence that took place during the demonstration in Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh is now taking a political color. There is news of the detention of Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi going to Lakhimpur Kheri. It is claimed that Priyanka Gandhi has been detained by the UP Police in Sitapur. Congress leaders have claimed this. It is being told that Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra left for Lakhimpur Kheri after midnight on Sunday to meet the farmers. He had alleged that the police was trying to stop him at various places on the way. Till the time of writing the news, there was information about Priyanka Gandhi reaching Sindhauli in Sitapur district. The Uttar Pradesh unit of the Congress had continuously shared information on Twitter about the progress of party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi’s convoy, and alleged attempts by the police to stop her. The Congress is also sharing a video of the convoy being stopped by the police at the checkpoints on its Twitter. It is worth mentioning that earlier the party had expressed apprehension that Uttar Pradesh Police may put her under house arrest to prevent Priyanka from going to Lakhimpur Kheri. Priyanka was on her way to meet farmers who were injured in the violence that erupted over the protest against Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya’s visit to Lakhimpur Kheri on Sunday. Earlier, a party leader had said, “Priyanka has not left (for Lakhimpur Kheri) yet. There is every possibility of him being placed under house arrest. There are 300 policemen and 150 women constables outside the house. There are also more than 300 party workers.
