Congress Update: New Delhi: The discord of Congress in Punjab has now reached the national leadership of Congress in Delhi. Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Anand Sharma strongly condemned the protest of the party workers outside the residence of Kapil Sibal and said that the party President Sonia Gandhi will be taking action against those involved in this nuisance. Anand Sharma tweeted, “Shocked and hurt to hear about the attack and disturbance at Kapil Sibal’s house. This reprehensible act brings disrepute to the party. Sharma, deputy leader of the Congress in the Rajya Sabha, emphasized that difference of opinion is part of democracy. “I request Congress President Sonia Gandhi to take strict action,” he said. Let us inform that after Sibal raised questions on the party leadership, many party workers on Wednesday demonstrated outside Sibal’s residence and raised slogans against him.

Congress workers, who reached outside Sibal’s residence, carried placards in which ‘Get Well Soon Sibal’ (Sibal you get well soon) was written. They also raised slogans of ‘Get the traitors out of the party’.

Sibal on Wednesday questioned the party leadership over the turmoil in the party’s Punjab unit and the current situation in the Congress and said a meeting of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) should be called to discuss the situation and organizational elections should be held. Referring to many leaders leaving the party, he took a dig at the Gandhi family in gestures that “Those who were special to him left, but those whom they do not consider special, they still stand with them.” Sibal insisted, “We are not ‘Ji Huzoor 23’. We will keep our word.”
