In Gopalganj, where 11 people have died under suspicious circumstances so far, the death toll has reached 13 in West Champaran district. In the meantime, however, it has fallen on the station in-charge and the watchman. Champaran Zone Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Pranav Kumar Praveen said that so far 13 people have died under suspicious circumstances. He said that spurious liquor is believed to be the cause of death. He told that seven people are still said to be victims, who have been admitted to the hospital for treatment. The DIG said that during this time the station in-charge of Nautan, Manish Kumar, has been suspended and the role of the watchman is being investigated. In the Mohammadpur police station area of Gopalganj, 11 people have died due to drinking spurious liquor on Tuesday night, while many people are still said to be ill. Here, Mohammedpur police station in-charge Shashi Ranjan Kumar and watchman Ranjit Rai have been suspended in this case. According to the police, more than two dozen people had consumed spurious liquor on Tuesday evening in Kushahar village of Mohammadpur police station in Gopalganj district. After drinking country liquor, the condition started deteriorating. All the sick were admitted to other hospitals including Sadar Hospital for treatment.
It is noteworthy that four people died on Wednesday, while on Thursday this figure had increased to 10. By the way, according to unconfirmed reports, the death toll in Gopalganj is being told more than 15, while the death toll in Bettiah is above 17. Last week, half a dozen people died in Muzaffarpur district after consuming spurious liquor. There is a complete ban on the sale and consumption of any kind of liquor in Bihar.
