Tamil Nadu Health Minister, M Subramaniam said, “After a sharp drop in the number of new cases of COVID-19, the second dose is delayed in people and this is not acceptable. We have deputed mobile volunteers for investigation.” Dr. Suchitra V. Menon, Professor of Microbiology at a Government Medical College in Tamil Nadu, told IANS, “People with other diseases and who have had organ transplants like liver transplant, kidney transplant etc. will need a booster dose and you will need to give them a second dose. Without a dose, a booster dose cannot be said to be taken and therefore people should be made aware that the second dose vaccine is as important as the first dose.”
