Maharashtra Congress President Balasaheb Thorat said on Tuesday that Prime Minister Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) has been expanded by Prime Minister Narendra Modi keeping in mind the Bihar elections. State Revenue Minister Thorat also raised questions about the Prime Minister’s message saying nothing about the violent clash with China in Ladakh. Congress The leader said that the Prime Minister’s speech was disappointing. He did nothing for the benefit of the poor and neither made any statement about China.

Thorat said, ‘After the outbreak of Corona virus epidemic, free food grains scheme was started to provide five kilograms of food grains to the poor. Congress President Sonia Gandhi had demanded that the scheme be extended by September. There was no need to announce it in the national message other than the administrative decision for expansion in the current plan.

The Congress leader said, ‘But he announced the extension of the plan keeping in mind the Bihar elections to be held in November. The poor have other needs besides food. Five kilos of rice, wheat and gram dal is a minor help. It will not last for even a month. Thorat demanded that Rs 7,500 cash be deposited in the bank accounts of the poor every month.
