In such a situation, many MLAs supporting Baghel are in Delhi since Wednesday. MLA Brihaspat Singh, who arrived in Delhi, again said on Saturday that there is no question of change of leadership in the state even remotely and under the leadership of Baghel, the government will run for five years. He also told that the MLAs present in Delhi paid tribute to Bapu by reaching Rajghat on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti on Saturday.
Chief Minister Baghel said- State Chhattisgarh can never become Punjab
Amidst this political stir, Chief Minister Baghel said in Raipur that his state can never become Punjab. Baghel said, “Chhattisgarh will remain Chhattisgarh and it cannot be Punjab. Chhattisgarh and Punjab have only one similarity. The name of both the states starts with numeral. This (Chhattisgarh) is also a state made of numbers.” Baghel was reacting to the remarks of the main opposition BJP in the state, in which the BJP had said that there was turmoil over power in Congress-ruled Chhattisgarh and Punjab.

Congress appoints Baghel as senior observer for UP elections
Meanwhile, the Congress made Baghel a senior observer for next year’s Uttar Pradesh assembly elections. Baghel supporters are considering this as a big sign. One of his supporters said, “Chhattisgarh is among the leading states of the country in terms of development under the leadership of our Chief Minister. This is the reason why the party high command has full faith in him.
The discussion of Chief Minister’s post for two and a half years is going on continuously.
Since the completion of two and a half years of Bhupesh Baghel government in Chhattisgarh, there is a constant discussion that there was talk of giving the chief minister’s post to Baghel for two and a half years and then to senior state leader and health minister TS Singhdeo. In such a situation, these MLAs have reached Delhi on Wednesday. When asked about the MLAs reaching Delhi, Congress in-charge of Chhattisgarh affairs PL Punia said on Thursday that no MLA has contacted him so far. In this regard, Baghel had told reporters in Raipur on Thursday, now the MLAs can’t even go anywhere? Politics should not be seen at every step. If a person has gone somewhere, then he should not be seen through a political lens.
Singhdev had said – we will all accept whatever the high command wants.
Singhdev also tried to ignore it and said, “Now 70 can go to 70. What is the issue in this? If MLAs go to Delhi, what is the issue? All this went on for several days in Uttar Pradesh. What’s new in Chhattisgarh?” According to him, it is the feeling of all the MLAs that we will all accept whatever the high command wants.
The relationship between Baghel and Singhdev is not smooth since the formation of the government.
The relationship between Baghel and Singhdev has not been smooth since the formation of the Congress government in Chhattisgarh in 2018. In June 2021, after Baghel completed two-and-a-half years as chief minister, the camp of Health Minister TS Singhdeo claimed that the high command had agreed to the chief minister’s post on rotational basis for two-and-a-half years.
Baghel and Singhdev were called to Delhi in August.
After the controversy over the chief minister’s post in the state, the Congress high command had called Baghel and Singhdeo to Delhi in August to resolve the dispute. When Baghel was in Delhi, 54 out of 70 Congress MLAs visited Delhi in his support. After returning from Delhi, Chief Minister Baghel told reporters that party leader Rahul Gandhi has agreed to visit the state on his invitation. Baghel had also said that those who are talking about the post of Chief Minister for two-and-a-half years are trying to promote political instability in the state. Baghel and Singhdeo have refrained from saying anything on the leadership issue after their meeting with the high command in the national capital, but the tussle between the two factions in the state did not subside.
