July 1: The Supreme Court begins hearing on a batch of petitions relating to the project, including environmental clearances and land use.

November 5: Supreme Court reserves judgment on appeal challenging the project.

December 7: The Supreme Court grants permission for the laying of the foundation stone of the Central Vista project but forbids construction to begin.

December 10: Prime Minister Narendra Modi lays the foundation stone of the project.

January 5, 2021: The Supreme Court paves the way for the construction of this ambitious project.
