Farmers’ Protest The United Kisan Morcha (SKM) on Thursday appealed to the people of the country to join the ‘Bharat Bandh’ called on September 27 against the three controversial agricultural laws of the Centre. The SKM, which is spearheading the farmers’ movement, is the flagship organization of more than 40 agricultural organisations. United Kisan Morcha has called for ‘Bharat Bandh’ on Monday (September 27) against the central government on completion of ten months of this historic struggle. The Morcha said in a statement, “SKM appeals to every Indian to join this nationwide movement and make ‘Bharat Bandh’ a massive success. In particular, we appeal to workers, traders, transporters, businessmen, students, youth and women and organizations of all social movements to show solidarity with the farmers on that day. The Morcha also urged all political parties and state governments to support the ‘Bharat Bandh’ and stand with the farmers “to protect the principles of democracy and federalism”. However, it said that it has been their policy that “representatives of political parties will not share the SKM platform”. This bandh will run from 6 am to 4 pm. All essential services including hospitals, medical stores, relief and rescue operations will be exempted from the shutdown. “The bandh will be implemented in a voluntary and peaceful manner,” the Morcha said.
