Amidst all this, CM Amarinder Singh, who reached Chandigarh after meeting with Home Minister Amit Shah and NSA Ajit Doval in Delhi, once again reiterated that Navjot Sidhu is not right for Punjab and will not let him win if he contests elections. Earlier, Amarinder Singh said that he will no longer be in the Congress and will resign from the party, as he cannot live in a party where he is humiliated and is not trusted. He also made it clear that he would not join the BJP. Singh said in a statement, ‘I am not joining the BJP, but will leave the Congress. I cannot live in a party where I am insulted and I am not trusted.
According to him, he is still looking for further options. Questioning the Congress leadership, Singh claimed, “Congress is going downwards. Senior leaders are being completely ignored. Referring to the protest by Congress workers outside Kapil Sibal’s house, he said, “The attack was carried out because he (Sibal) expressed views which were not pleasing to the party leadership. This is not good for the party.
He also said, “Those who are downplaying the threat from Pakistan in Punjab and India are playing in the hands of anti-nationals.” Pak-supported elements are killing our jawans every day, they are delivering weapons to our state by drones. How can we ignore this danger?’ After meeting Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday, Amarinder Singh also met NSA Ajit Doval on Thursday. Singh said that he has met Doval regarding the security concerns related to Punjab.
