Six students died in a road accident on NH-12 after a collision with a truck.
Jaipur: Six candidates of Rajasthan Teacher Eligibility Test (REET) examination died in a road accident after a truck collided with them on NH-12. Five others were injured in the collision that took place near Chaksu in Jaipur district. Those who were going towards the examination center. The deceased were residents of Baran district. The condition of the injured is critical and they are being treated in different hospitals. While two have been referred to Satellite Hospital in Chaksu, the other two to Mahatma Gandhi Hospital and one to Jaipur Hospital. Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot condoled and announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh for the families of all the deceased victims and Rs 50,000 for the injured. Gehlot asked REET candidates to try to use public transport. No exam is bigger than your life. REET will be conducted on September 26 in which around 16.5 lakh students will appear. It is considered as a major exam in the state. And hence strict security arrangements have been made. Armed police forces are being deployed at the examination centres. And also CCTV and videography have been ordered in each examination centre. The state government has arranged free transport service for REET candidates.
