The announcement was made by Maharashtra’s Minister of State for Home and Minister in charge of Kolhapur district, Satej Patil. “As promised during the election of the Kolhapur District Co-operative Milk Producers Union, we have decided to increase the purchase price by Rs 2 for buffalo milk and Rs 1 for cow milk,” Patil said. . We collect 12 lakh liters of milk every day in the state, so this decision will benefit the farmers. Except Kolhapur, Sangli and Konkan divisions, the selling price of milk will also increase. Congress leader Patil and Rural Development Minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Hassan Mushrif are members of the board that runs the cooperative. ‘Gokul’ is also targeting to increase the daily collection of milk to 20 lakh liters from the current eight lakh liters. Patil said that every year the collection will be increased by two lakh liters to achieve this target. Patil said the decisions taken by the new post-poll board also included signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the state’s milk marketing agency Mahanand for the sale in Mumbai. This will reduce the packing cost and save Rs 18.80 lakh every year. Overall, there will be a saving of Rs 13 crore annually with the reduction in various expenses.
