World Alzheimer’s Day 2020: Smoking and alcohol exposure increase Alzheimer’s risk

Anger, resentment and gradually forgetting the little things in Rosaria, these can all be early signs of Alzheimer’s. Alzheimer’s is a type of mental disorder. This disease affects the brain cells.

According to doctors, alcoholics and smokers are at higher risk. This is why the disease is now found in youth. Due to the change in lifestyle, not only men but also women are inclined towards it.

Dr Rajneesh Kumar, a senior consultant in the neuroscience department at Pars Hospital, said people needed to be made public about the disease. The main causes include stress, hearing loss, obesity, physical inactivity, diabetes and social isolation. In addition, excessive smoking and alcohol consumption also increases the risk of this disease.

Alcohol affects the ability of brain cells to eliminate amyloid plaques and increases the risk of Alzheimer’s in such people. Due to stressful life and understanding of many tasks, this disease has started to lose memory.

Lockdown increases patients’ discomfort-

Dr Apurva Sharma, a consultant physician at the Columbia Astel, says Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive condition in which brain cells lack memory, path, language, attention and planning ability. Caregivers find it difficult to provide a quality life for a person with Alzheimer’s disease, and it can be stressful.

This problem is more common in people over the age of 65-

Dr Sumit Singh, director of the neurology department at Artemis Hospital, said that memory is affected with age but forgetfulness can occur at any age. For most people, the problem of forgetting age increases.

More than half of people over the age of at least 5 say they are forgetting more than they are now. As they begin to experience aging, this problem of forgetting is due to increasing age, it is not necessary, because in old age there is not enough brain practice. Thus, taking part in activities that keep both mind and body active can reduce forgetfulness.
