Sensex today: Stock market sets new record with positive news about vaccine, Sensex crosses 48,000 for first time

Monday marked the first trading day of the week for the country’s stock market in the news of the approval of two vaccines for corona virus in India. The BSE Sensex crossed the 48000 mark for the first time. The Bombay Stock Exchange’s flagship index Sensex opened at 23,655 points (0.49 percent) at 48,105.63. The Nifty on the National Stock Exchange opened 0.53 percent (74.40 points) at 14,092.90. The BSE Sensex had gained 895.44 points or 1.90 per cent in the previous week. Today 13744 shares have risen and 223 shares have decreased. 50 shares remained unchanged.

So investors should be careful. The total market cap of BSE-listed companies has crossed Rs 190 lakh crore.

Asian markets also took a sharp turn today. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index rose 172 points, or 0.63 percent, to 27,404. China’s Shanghai Composite Index rose 18 points to 3,491. At the same time, Japan’s Nikkei index is trading at 27,444, down 199 points (0.73 percent).
