GST The agency has revealed the theft of GST worth Tk 611 crore, one person has been arrested

GST officials have leaked Rs 631 crore to a Delhi-based gutka manufacturing company. One person was also arrested in the case. According to a statement issued by the West Delhi GST Commissionerate, while the company was conducting the operation, some evidence was found from its warehouse that it was clear that the company was secretly manufacturing gutka, pan spices and tobacco products.

Investigating officers seized raw material and gutka making machines from the spot. The investigation found that the company had evaded taxes worth about Rs 631 crore from illegal gutka production.

According to officials, 655 workers were working in the illegal gutkha company. Authorities seized gutka and raw materials such as lime, plain catechu, tobacco, etc. from the company’s warehouse. The value of the seized goods is about Rs 4.14 crore.

According to the statement, the GST theft is under investigation. A man involved in fraudulent supply of duty-free goods has been arrested and produced in court on Saturday, from where he has been remanded in judicial custody for 14 days.

The government has taken action against 7,000 companies in GST theft cases

According to various agencies, the central government has taken strict action against GST evasion across the country and has taken action against 7,000 organizations. On Sunday, Finance Secretary Ajay Bhushan Pandey said a total of 187 people have been arrested so far for GST evasion.

“The government has collected the highest amount of GST of Rs 1.15 lakh crore in December since the introduction of GST,” Pandey said in an interview. GST has helped boost the recovery of government measures against thieves and it is also expected to improve the economy.

He said five chartered accountants and a company secretary had also been arrested out of 167 people caught by the government through fake GST bills in the last one and a half months of the campaign. Many of these directors have been in jail for the last 40-50 days. Not only that, there are some big companies who were involved in GST theft through fake bills. Strict action has also been taken against them.
